"Springers" are known for being the best tasting Salmon there is, and the Rogue River & Gold Beach area is a destination fishery for these incredible fish. Steelhead Fishing in the Rogue River is known for both "Summer-run" and "Winter-run" fish.
Legion Fishing targets Winters on the Middle Rogue from February to mid-April in the Grants Pass & Merlin region. Summer Steelhead fishing is best from September to December, which also falls into prime Fall Chinook time. This gives anglers the opportunity at both hard-fighting Summers, as well as the large and powerful Fall Chinook. Middle Rogue River combo Steelhead and Fall Chinook is some of the most exciting fishing of the year!

Guests get to enjoy the sights, fishing and the premium fish they catch. Fish are filleted and bagged for you, ready to bring home.
If you've never got to enjoy eating a Salmon the same day as you caught it, you're in for a treat. At the same time, there are catch and release fisheries for those not looking for a chance to harvest fish.
No matter what - your safety, enjoyment and relaxation is the top priority. You bring your own food and drinks for the trip, and Legion Fishing will handle the rest of the day.

While many of our trips are warm and comfortable, bring extra clothing layers especially for morning hours. In many cases, a rain jacket and rain pants is necessary to ensure you stay warm and dry while riding in the boat.
Please Note that Gold Beach fisheries can be especially windy. If you don't have rain gear available, just mention it to us when you book.

We provide top-of-the-line fishing equipment and safety gear for our guests. You will need to bring food and drinks for the trip.
Keep in mind that you will want a good balance of nutritious food for the day of fishing, and plenty of hydration. Bring as much as you and your group will need, and we can also store it for you in a cooler if needed.

You'll need an Oregon Fishing license that is valid for the day, or dates you'll be fishing. This can be purchased online, and the ODFW app can be downloaded on your phone.

Wintertime in the Southern Oregon region is time for a sports angler's favorite - Winter Steelhead. These fish arrive back from the Ocean heading up the Rogue and nearby rivers to reach their spawning grounds and are hard fighters, even in the colder water of Winter & Spring. Winter Steelhead trips are mostly done in Driftboat or Sled, often casting from the boat, or backtrolling. While there is harvest opportunities, there is also catch-and-release fishing and it is one of the most exciting fish to find and catch.

Spring & Summer bring a number of incredible fisheries in the Rogue River & Gold Beach areas. First and foremost, Spring Chinook on the Rogue River (Springers) are the most sought after Salmon in the world. This famous fishery is primarily April - June depending on water levels and temperature.
Ocean fishing opportunities for Salmon & Bottom-Fishing abound, not to mention Trout & Summer Steelhead upriver.

The early Fall Season in Southern Oregon can feel a lot like Summer in terms of weather, but it brings a new bounty of fishing opportunity with it. Fall Chinook and Summer Steelhead trips are a favorite of many due to the weather, and the chance to hook multiple species of fish in the same trip in certain areas. Legion Fishing will know the best opportunities for your guided trip, and get you set up for a true Rogue River Fall Fishing experience.
Later in the Fall, the weather starts to cool and the fishing can be just as good, and sometimes even better. Summer Steelhead and "Half-Pounders" can be abundant, bringing high-flying fish that burn line off your reel. Just when that season is coming to a close...we're right back to Winter Steelhead.
